 
											Matthew Karp is the founding member and managing partner of Matthew A. Karp, P.A. Mr. Karp brings an elite academic and professional background to the Firm which enable him to assist clients in myriad types of representation.
Before attending law school, Mr. Karp obtained his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois where he graduated with honors. Following his undergraduate degree, Mr. Karp attended the University of Florida Levin College of Law where he was a member of the Justice Campbell Thornal Moot Court Team/Executive Board and a write-on invitee to the Journal of Law and Public Policy. Mr. Karp was also a teaching assistant in Trial Practice, Legal Research and Writing and Appellate Advocacy and a Certified Legal Intern with the Alachua County State Attorney’s Office.
Following his law school graduation, Mr. Karp joined the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office where he was an Assistant State Attorney for approximately four years. During his tenure at the State Attorney’s Office, Mr. Karp was a Committed Training Attorney at the misdemeanor level and went on to try more than 100 jury and bench trials on misdemeanor and felony cases ranging from complex economic crimes to homicide. As a prosecutor, Mr. Karp valued most the opportunity to represent the interests of his victims and restore their faith in the criminal justice system.
Thereafter, Mr. Karp joined the firm of Stearns, Weaver, Miller, Weissler, Alhadeff & Sitterson, P.A.— a very well-respected full-service law firm with offices in Fort Lauderdale and Miami, Florida. Mr. Karp worked at Stearns Weaver for approximately three years where he practiced primarily in the defense of the nation’s largest hospitals on complex medical malpractice and personal injury cases. Mr. Karp has also assisted corporate clients in the investigation and prosecution of economic crimes and large multinational corporations in the defense of personal injury cases.
With the benefit of his extensive criminal and civil litigation background, Mr. Karp proudly represents individuals in personal injury, medical malpractice, wrongful death, criminal defense, family and general litigation matters. Mr. Karp works tirelessly to ensure his clients’ interests are protected at all stages of their case from pre-litigation discovery through trial. Mr. Karp’s passion remains trial practice where he is very active in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach County, Florida.
